The Librarians' Joke- teacher's perspective

The Librarians' Joke was an idea inspired by the theatre's desire for young people to experience theatre in other venues. I was approached by the theatre and asked if I would want to take part.

The main reason why I was confident of the project was the vision of the lead partner but also the openness to ideas and experimentation. Clearly, a school works in a different way to a theatre but through clear planning and good communication all of the partners were very much in touch with what their role was to be.

Clearly, a school works in a different way to a theatre but through clear planning and good communication all of the partners were very much in touch with what their role was to be.The group were fortunate enough to have monthly meetings to catch up and there was plenty of time allocated to the planning process. At the end of each of the meetings we were very much focussed by actions to be done and these were clearly negotiated.

With regards to the partnership working, this was one of the main joys of the project. Not one of the partners working in isolation would have come up with such a varied and exciting project with each of us adding in personal and professional experience. The idea developed over the course of the project with additions and removals, although this organic approach was never unfocussed. Even basic information like contacts or previous experience at something made the project really tight and ultimately very successful in our eyes and the students.
