wave arts education agency provides a source for inspiration and creativity between the arts and education communities in Bournemouth & Poole.

Working with teachers, governors, artists, practitioners, local authority staff, and arts and cultural staff, our aim is to make a distinctive contribution to the enjoyment, confidence, skills and emotional well being of children and young people.

Aims:

  • To promote and assist in the development of policies, plans and projects that provide young people with increased and regular access to high quality arts experiences.

  • To identify, promote and disseminate good practice for artists-in-residence in informal and formal learning environments

  • To develop and sustain an arts education network, and to encourage joint and strategic planning in the delivery of the arts in informal and formal learning settings

  • Information & Advice for; Artists; Teachers; Arts Organisations, through the Arts Education Newsletter; Schools and artists guidepack; Email communication lists and on areas such as Project management and planning; opportunities; funding; marketing; curriculum development

  • Projects for Young people; Artists; Arts Organisations; Schools; Other partners, Community-based; School-based; Venue- based; and linked to Curriculum; cross-curricular; school improvement targets; education development plans; out of school hours; holiday programmes; community events

Contracts and commissions:
wave are frequently commissioned to deliver contract work. Past and present programmes / clients include:

Arts Award (Arts Council England / Trinity College) – Training provider and development programmes for nationally accredited Arts Award. wave have also gained Arts Award Welcome status, see more here

Artsmark (Arts Council England) – Training provider and co-ordination of awards ceremonies for the national Artsmark initiative.

Creative Partnerships (Real Ideas Organisation) – Management of Enquiry School and Change School programmes for the national creative learning programme.

Cultural Hub (DCSF/ DCMS) - a major 3-year programme exploring partnership working between schools and cultural organisations, running from Sept 05 - June 08. The partnership has continued to operate beyond the formal life of the programme, creating inspirational learning opportunities for children and young people, facilitated by wave. Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge (Arts Council England) – Training provider for arts and cultural organisations to achieve their quality badge (contract through Arts Education South West)

Poole Lantern Procession (Poole Town Centre Management). Co-ordination of the annual Poole community Lantern Procession.
