Face Britain: National project for 4-16 yr olds

Face Britain is a national project that invites all young people in the UK to submit a self-portrait. Your artwork will be part of a world record attempt and hopefully the biggest online gallery of self-portraits in the world. Make your face famous!  It is the UK’s largest mass collaborative art project which offers everyone aged 4-16 years the opportunity to engage in the art of self-portraiture.  Deadline for receiving portraits: 31st March 2012.

Children & the Arts is a registered charity that champions the power of the arts to transform lives. Face Britain is not only the UK’s largest mass collaborative art project, but is also Guinness World Records attempt for “The most artists working on the same art installation”. The purpose is to provide a unique snapshot of how the nation’s young people see themselves by creating a self-portrait that can be uploaded onto the Face Britain online gallery brought to life by PhotoBox. Portraits at all levels of skill and in any medium are acceptable, including drawing, textiles, 3D, painting, graphics and photography.

There are lots of ways you can get involved in Face Britain. You can create a self portrait online, at home or in class, then give it to your Face Britain leader by email or on paper. Your portrait will go into the online gallery and be part of a special portrait of HM The Queen which is going to be projected onto Buckingham Palace!
