Dance classes for all at Pavilion Dance!

Bournemouth residents and visitors of all ages are invited to try different dance styles from belly dancing to Baby Bop at new daily dance classes at the Pavilion Ballroom. A new range of taster dance classes organised by Pavilion Dance as a forerunner to the world-class dance centre opening in the Pavilion this autumn will start on Monday 19th April.  The new classes have been devised to appeal to a wide range of ages and abilities, and are available for over 50s, children under 5 and their parents, adults, participants with physical disabilities and professional dancers.

Twenty different classes will run each week with lots of different dance styles on offer. Over 50s can strut their stuff to ‘Funkstyles’, inspired by the 1970s TV show ‘Soultrain’ or try belly dancing and basic ballet; children aged 2-5 years and their parents can dance together in ‘My Mini Mover and Me’, Toddler Yoga and ‘Wushu Tots’; professional dancers can develop their dance styles in a range of classes from ‘Popping v Locking’ to ‘Hip Hop v Contemporary’, and there are many more besides, all costing £3 per class.

Ian Abbott, Programme Manager for Pavilion Dance said: “In our taster classes we’ve tried to offer dance for age groups and abilities that aren’t currently catered for, in styles that people may not have tried before. There is a huge range of different classes to try and we hope this will be a great way of finding out what kind of dance the people of Bournemouth are looking for, as we’re really keen to get feedback as we plan our classes programme for the new dance centre in September. ”
