Lights, camera... dance! Pre-opening events at Pavilion Dance, Bournemouth

Twenty local dancers aged 19 – 25 will enjoy free training in ‘Dance for Camera’, a discipline that merges dance and film aesthetics, for 3 days from 27th Feb to 1st Mar. The training will take place on the Media Bus, an innovative state of the art digital media facility on board a high-tech bus, and will be based at Bournemouth and Poole College.

Dancers will work in pairs to create either a short dance film or a show reel of their existing work. L, an established dance artist and specialist in dance for camera will work alongside trainers from the Media Bus to teach participants how to shoot and frame dance for camera and how to complete the editing process including reviewing, cutting, juggling and polishing footage.

The training has been organised by Pavilion Dance in partnership with the Media Bus and is just one of many projects leading up to the opening in September 2010 of the eagerly awaited dance centre, which is currently under construction at the Pavilion Theatre in Bournemouth.

Ian Abbott, Participation Programme Manager for Pavilion Dance said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this training which will be really useful for emerging local dancers who will be able to make and finish a film or a show reel of their own work in a weekend”.
