Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge - for arts and cultural organisations |

Arts and creative sector organisations offering learning experiences for children and young people are eligible to apply for the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge. The Quality Badge is a national benchmark for the provision of educational visits and programmes. It recognises organisations that offer good quality teaching and learning experiences in safe and regulated environments, and so is looked out for by teachers arranging out of school visits.
The Quality Badge brings together existing safety and quality standards to form one clear and easily recognisable system for schools to use when assessing organisations that provide learning outside the classroom.

Who should apply for the Quality Badge?
The Quality Badge is available to all organisations providing experiences that extend learning outside the classroom. This includes galleries, training providers, cultural centres supporting school visits as well as employers providing work-related learning.
The LOtC Quality Badge brings significant benefits for arts and creative organisations, helping achieve consistent and recognised high quality learning provision across the sector.
It is awarded to providers who have pledged to engage in an ongoing process to sustain good-quality learning outside the classroom. The organisation will demonstrate that:
• Learning outside the classroom is understood and valued;
• Processes are in place to establish and maintain an effective partnerships with schools and other groups of young learners
• Structures are in places to support and enable effective learning
• Recognised safety management processes are in place to manage risk effectively
The Badge is attained through a process of self-assessment and is awarded by the Learning Outside the Classroom Council. Guidance and good practice exemplars are available to support your application.
