hand-front4.jpgHubworld is a celebration of a three-year project called the Bournemouth and Poole Cultural Hub. The Cultural hub has brought together local schools and cultural organisations to create inspiring learning opportunities for children and young people. We’ve worked with museums, galleries, theatres, libraries, archives, orchestras and a host of teachers, artists and creative people, not to mention some amazing children and young people. Hubworld is a two-day celebration that seeks to give you a taste of the ideas, concepts, skills and partnerships that have characterised the last three years. It all happens down on the beach at Alum Chine, and you are invited to come and join us. It’s free. Be a part of the celebrations.

All of the Cultural Hub schools are involved in this celebratory procession with music, puppets, creations and costumes, plus more surprises on the way down the Chine. The procession leads us to ‘Sandworlds’ on the beach. The procession starts at 12.30pm from the top of Alum Chine. Visitors should make their way to Alum Chine in good time for the start. Access to the Chine is via West Overcliff Road (please avoid Alumhurst Rd entrances).

The Sandworlds will be laid out along the beach either side of Alum Chine for the public to visit on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Each Sandworld has different elements of performance, including dance, drama, storytelling, animation & film. There are lots of opportunities to join in, get creative and make your own contribution.

As the sun sets on the longest day of the year we gather to mark the end of the Hubworld event with a performance fusing music, dance, fire and film, performed by a 40 strong ensemble cast. Loud, raucus and irreverent we round the night off with music and dancing on the beach until 11pm.

Gather on the beach at 9pm, and be prepared to party!
