A special screening event of work made by young people involved in a Film and Performing Arts Summer School held at Lighthouse in August, will be shown at Poole Quay on Tuesday 9th Sept, 7pm - 10pm. The summer school programme, for talented 11-13 year olds from Poole, has formed part of an upcoming spectacular arts event called Inside Out.

Over the week-long programme, the young people took part in film, dance and drama workshops led by a team of professional artists and practitioners. The themes for the summer school began with the ideas of the Inside Out Festival, including Sea and Shore, and Unearthing Forgotten Fragments, and were then developed and shaped by the young people themselves during the week.

This work will also be shown at the Inside Out Festival in Weymouth, Dorset, happening on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 Sept - see below for details of the festival.

A spectacular outdoor event charting the story of a dangerous sea journey through live performance, pyrotechnics, sound and light, Veles e Vents, created by acclaimed Spanish artists Xarxa Teatre, will celebrate the launch of the Cultural Olympiad in Dorset.

Veles e Vents is presented by Inside Out, an initiative of Dorset Theatre Promoters’ Consortium with Bournemouth and Poole promoters that is project-managed by Activate.  It follows on from the dramatic success of Inside Out 2007 and also involves a number of local young people from Poole, Bournemouth and Weymouth who have worked with artists to create their own Stories of the Sea.
