'Between the Playgrounds and the Woods' - Enquiries with children in outdoor environments

With outdoor sessions and indoor presentations by leading practitioners, this afternoon seminar will be a chance to explore the issues of extending children’s opportunities for roaming and exploring outside, in environments full of potential for creativity, risk-taking and learning.

Key Note Speaker: Martin Maudsley, Playwork Partnership and Storyteller

- Meet and exchange ideas with other educators, creative practitioners, and artists who work in the playwork sector, run outdoor cultural centres, work as part of Forest School Initiatives or represent Health and Safety.
- Engage in exploration and dialogue outside – as hands on as you like!
- Watch and take part in indoor presentations of local projects plus a chance to find out more about cultural centres and city wild spaces in the area.

5x5x5=creativity is an arts-based, action research organisation that aims to collect evidence about children’s life-wide creative capacities. Initiated in 2000 it originally involved five educational settings, five artists and five cultural
centres working in partnership to support young children’s creativity. Since then 55 research settings have been involved across 5 Local Authorities: Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset and Wiltshire.
