Event description:

A specially commissioned, magical performance by year 3 and 4 students primary schools - St Luke's, St Katharine's and Stourfield tells the story visitor to Bournemouth, the Empress Eugénie, and the history of candle lighting Bournemouth Gardens. The schools have been collaborating with artists: Polly Jeff Pigott, Lee Hart and Greta Hennessy.

The performance is a culmination of residencies at the schools exploring the lighting and the moving story of Empress Eugénie. An exhibition about the project Bournemouth Library from 10th - 28th September. After the performance, the audience is invited to experience the ‘Fire Gardens’ the Lower Gardens, by French company Carabosse, as part of the Dorset-wide festival (www.insideoutdorset.co.uk).

The project is led by Activate as part of the Cultural Hub and Inside Out festival, with Bournemouth Borough Council Arts Development, Events and Libraries, schools named above, Dorset History Centre, Poole Libraries, and Wave.
